Why Use AI for PPTs
Eighty percent of the difficulty is the "blank opening slide" and "adjusting the format slide by slide". AI won't think up your arguments for you, but it can lay out the outline, each slide's key points, the color scheme, and the layout within minutes—you go from "starting from zero" to "editing a draft", a whole order of magnitude more efficient.
- Say goodbye to blank-page fear: type in a topic and get a structure—no need to agonize over the cover and table of contents first;
- Leave the layout to it: color, alignment, and icons stay consistent, looking better and faster than manual tweaking;
- A draft in half an hour: you then add real data and adjust the tone, and you're ready to present.
Three Routes, Pick by Scenario
Route A: Canva AI in Three Steps for a Full Deck
Create a presentation, choose "Generate with AI"
In Canva, create a "Presentation" and find the Magic Design / AI generation entry; paste in your topic or a few key points, or upload a document for it to extract from.
Pick a style and number of slides
Choose a template style that fits the occasion (business / minimal / lively) and set a rough slide count. It generates multiple drafts at once for you to pick from.
Edit text, swap images, adjust colors slide by slide
After generation, every slide is editable: replace with your real data, swap in your own images, and unify the color scheme. Finally export as PDF or PPTX.
Route B: Chatbot for Outline + Copy
If you'd rather control the layout yourself, or your company template can't be changed, this is the most stable route: let AI produce "what each slide says", then paste it into your existing PowerPoint / WPS / Keynote template.
Give the topic and known facts (5 min)
List the presentation topic, audience, duration, and the real key points you have. Leave any missing data blank—don't let AI fill it in.
Apply the prompt to generate the structure (1 min)
Use the prompt below, pasting your material after "[MY TOPIC AND KEY POINTS]".
Verify facts, paste into template (10 min)
Numbers, cases, and quotes from AI must be verified by you; once confirmed, copy slide by slide into your template, then unify colors and fonts.
Prompt You Can Copy Directly

A Real Example
Your key points:
AI's structure (excerpt):
- Cover: Quarterly Review · Q3 Results and Next-Quarter Plan
- Performance Overview: Revenue +12% QoQ; new-customer share ~40% (key point, with a trend chart)
- Key Moves: Self-service backend launched, support tickets −30% (key point + a line "frees up staff for new features")
- Risks and Snags: Occasional legacy-system timeouts, migration already scheduled (key point, marked "NEEDS MORE: root-cause analysis")
- Next-Quarter Plan: Membership system MVP (key point + a line "aims to boost repeat purchases")
Three Pitfalls to Avoid
- Don't let it fabricate data: anything like "up 30%" or "industry #1" must be filled in by you. Write "do not fabricate" into the prompt and double-check every number.
- Match the style to the occasion: a defense needs rigor, a pitch needs to grab attention, an internal review needs to get straight to the point. State the occasion in the prompt before generating—don't use one template for everything.
- It's only a draft: finalize the colors, fonts, and icons yourself; redact confidential content before feeding it to any AI tool.
